Import Snapchat Memories into Apple Photos or Google Photos with the right dates

Photo libraries sort by the capture date stored inside each file, so Snapchat Memories need their dates and locations written into the files before you import them. Repair the export first, then import the repaired folder; the memories then land on the right day and, where a location exists, on the map.

Step by step

  1. Repair your export with MemoriesBack and unzip the result. Photos and videos are in derived/<year>/; files that needed no change are in originals/.
  2. Apple Photos (Mac): File → Import, choose the unzipped folder.
  3. Google Photos: upload the folders at photos.google.com, or let a backup app add them.

What to expect

“Recently added” will still show the import day — that view is about when files arrived, not when they were taken. Look at the photo’s info panel or browse by date instead. Dates are written with their time-zone offset, so apps show them correctly wherever you are. We have not tested every app and version.

Keep the album too

The result also includes index.html, an album page that opens offline in any browser from the same folder, with chapters by month and a map of your places.
